’s photographic work, Protect Me (2009) was donated to the Tautai Trust Tsunami Relief Auction held at Webb’s on Tuesday 20 October. It was sold to a private buyer and 100% of the funds raised were donated to the Samoa Tsunami Relief Fund.

Luisa Tora and Ema Tavola have been invited by the Pacific Research Cluster to speak at An Oceanic Imagination: A Tribute to the Life and Mind of ‘Epeli Hau’ofa taking place on Wednesday 21 October at the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand.

Our panel is called Visions of building Pacific representations through the Arts.

Roland Williams grew up being constantly reminded to appreciate old school music. He’s on a rugby scholarship from Fiji at Kelston Boys High School in West Auckland and is hoping to extend his stay till 2010 so he can attend university and study psychology. Winning with over 50% of the vote, Roland Williams rocked it with the Gregory Abbott classic ‘Shake You Down’ and took out the final heat of Homai Te Pakipaki 2009 on Maori Television.

The sun has set on the FIJI TIMES exhibition… Torika Bolatagici Vetuna’s beautiful photo media work has been donated to the Tautai Trust Tsunami Relief Auction and Luisa Tora’s poster will be on it’s way shortly to its new home in Christchurch, New Zealand! Congratulations artists, vinaka vakalevu supporters, thank you so much Naomi Singer and Nicole Lim, respected colleagues. A great project… thank you all so much.

Luisa Tora has sold her poster work “Faith” (2009) from the Faith, Hope and Charity series.

Faith is the first installment in Tora’s Faith, Hope and Charity trilogy. The series is a response to the types of control currently being used on the Fiji population. Faith features Police Commissioner Esala Teleni. Rerevaka na Kalou ka doka na Tui from the Fiji coat of arms means “Fear the Lord and honour the Queen”.
